Beef Satay With Spicy Peanut Sauce

We recommend pairing the following Beef Satay with our seasonal Nestucca ESB.

Combine ingredients for the marinade and marinate the beef for at least 3 hours - the longer, the better.

Soak bamboo skewers in water for 15 minutes.

After the beef has marinated, thread onto the soaked bamboo skewers and grill or sear in a hot pan.
Serve with peanut sauce.

In a hot pan add oil, garlic, onion, and lemon grass; cook until onion is soft.

Add remaining ingredients, simmer for 15 to 20 minutes. If needed, adjust consistency with water.

Beef Satay with Spicy Peanut Sauce

  • 3 lbs     Flank Steak or Top Round, thinly sliced, 1" x 5" against the grain
  • Bamboo Skewers


  • 1 T         Lemon Grass, minced
  • 1/2 T      Fresh Ginger, minced
  • 5 ea        Fresh Garlic Cloves, minced
  • 2 T         Curry Powder
  • 1-1/2 T   Honey
  • 1/2 c       Fish Sauce
  • 1 t           Chili Flakes (add more if you like it spicy)

Peanut Sauce

  • 1/4 c        Peanut Oil
  • 2 ea         Fresh Garlic Cloves, minced
  • 1/2 ea      Medium Yellow Onion, fine diced
  • 1 T          Lemon Grass, minced
  • 1 t            Cayenne Pepper
  • 1/2 t         Curry Powder
  • 2 c           Coconut Milk
  • 1 t            Tamarind Paste
  • 2 T           Fish Sauce
  • 5 T           Dark Brown Sugar
  • 3 T           Lemon Juice
  • 1/2 c         Peanut Butter
  •                  Zest of half a lime
