Our Story

On July 10, 1998, Jeff Schons and Mary Jones' dream of bringing a first class inn to Pacific City was fulfilled. With Jeff serving as the general contractor and Mary in charge of interior design, they opened a 35-room inn with fireplaces and balconies with a view of Haystack Rock in every room - right in the middle of the summer tourist season! They and their team have a strong commitment to "strive to make something better today than it was yesterday". Improvements have continued to be made to the Inn over the years to bring it to what Travel + Leisure magazine recently called "One of the Top 40 Best Secret Beach Hideaways in the World"!

While the Inn is quite beautiful, the real secret to our success has been our team. "No excuses" service and a focus on truly making our guests feel special and part of our family has resulted in thousands of repeat guests over the last 15 years. We receive many comments from guests about how our genuine care and service is second to none, even compared to what they receive in world class resorts and big city hotels.

Our team is led by Jeremy Storber, president of Kiwanda Hospitality Group, and Kim Carr, general manager. Kim was actually part of our opening team 15 years ago, joining us from the Cloverdale Pharmacy as a front desk clerk. Kim's dedication and caring heart have allowed her to grow to her current leadership position and have earned her the respect of over 50 team members she leads. One of these team members is Carey Brown who has faithfully served as our night auditor since we opened. Jeremy joined our team in 2006. His 13+ years experience in the hotel industry throughout the world has brought a new level of professionalism to the Inn, all wrapped up in a heart that is as dedicated and caring as Kim's.

Our team is also focused on supporting Pacific City with team members helping lead the Chamber of Commerce, Birding and Blues Festival, Dory Days, as well as helping clean Cape Kiwanda Drive and the beach on a regular basis.

We expect to remain passionately committed to serving our guests, team members, and community long into the future. Come help us celebrate on July 10.
