The Concierge Corner - October 29, 2014

Being a Concierge, to me, is by far the most fascinating work. It’s all about top notch service for our guests and owners, as well as knowing every tiny detail about everything that is going on within my community and out. If there is something we are unsure of, we make it a point to find out everything we can about it. Whether it be something as simple as “what type of whales are those swimming out there?” to “where is the best place to eat in Depoe Bay?” We’ll give you the facts.

I often find myself asking people questions about their area when my husband and I are out and about. How much do they know about what’s going on around the area? As a Concierge, I am constantly asked “what are some things we don’t want to miss while vising the area?” and “if you were me, what would you do on a day like today?” If it were me, on a rainy day in October, I would be wine tasting. Yum.  It’s one of my newly favorite things to do in mid-Fall. I never preferred wine until some friends invited me to go. Making up my mind to go all in on this tasting business, I dove straight in and found that I really do like wine! I was a bit skeptical at first, due to the fact that past wine experiences weren’t that great. Everything that I had tasted in the past had been horrible. First stop was Archery Summit and WOW, I was amazed by the flavors and aromas and fell, quickly and undoubtedly head over heels in love with wine. That’s all it took, one taste from a superb vineyard and excellent Pinot Noir. Vowing to try all of the vineyards in the Willamette valley, I have tried 20 so far and not all on one day! A few of my favorite vineyards include Archery Summit, Sokol Blosser and Stoller, all known for their aromatic, dark, fruity flavors of black cherries, spice and oak. If you get a chance to go to any of these vineyards or some others, I highly recommend it.

If you’re in the area and stumped for ideas on what you should do, stop and say “hi” to myself, or my fellow Concierge team, Jerri, Lainie or Mitch! We would love to help.
