Angler's Amber Ale

Availability: Winter

Angler's Amber features a toasted malt profile, a clean snappy aroma and finish, and a floral/spicy hop character and aroma. Fermented cool with prolonged cold storage in the lager brewing tradition, Angler's Amber is flavorful, satisfying and refreshing.

Darron's Tasting Notes:

Our latest seasonal, Angler's Amber Ale was released January 14th. The idea behind Angler's was to create a beer with lager characteristics, a clean, toasty malt base, and an assertive floral hop character. While the German Dortmunder style was used as a starting point of inspiration, developing the final flavor profile led to the creation of a beer that only vaguely resembles any traditional German beer.

As is often the case for Pelican beers, both the strength of the beer and the hop character is noticeably enhanced. In the process though, we retained the balance and drinkability of a traditional Dortmunder. Like a Dortmunder, Angler's is robust but balanced, well-hopped but not overly bitter, and malty without being sweet.

Angler's has a clean aroma with very little fruitiness, dominated instead by a spicy/floral hop character and toasty, biscuit-like malt. The flavor follows through on the aroma, with a continuing balance between the hops and the malt.
